Did you know that November is the most suitable month for harvesting the olives for oil?
During this period it is reached the maximum oil content in fruit and higher qualitative indicators, as well as attacks from the olive fly are saved and olives are healthy.
You should know that:
– The start of fruit coloring is a signal for harvesting because it gives the highest quality of extra virgin oil.
– Late harvest contents loss of production and quality.
– Full ripening phase of the fruit does not comply with the best quality of the product.
– The increase of oil in the fruit ends in November, after that the fruit only looses water and not increase oil range.
In the framework of SAVS program funded by USAID/Albania, the AAC-Lushnja olive specialist together with the marketing sector have prepared a leaflet in support of farmers and processors aiming to produce extra virgin oil.
